Works by Mijnie van Eijk

Layered imagination.

A lot of blank paper has brought my quest to life.

The lines, as far as I'm concerned, can go in any direction!

My work and I have to know each other. I am always surprised by what the work is and what it brings to me. When I return to the normal world, I am satisfied that my work has left something behind.

My joy with paper, guiding my lines from there to there.

I often sit at my drawing table, where my sharply sharpened colored pencils are safely stored.

My drawing table has been dusted off, the blinds are adjusted to the perfect angle, and the trash bin has been emptied!

The drawing paper (180 grams) must wait a little longer because I start with sketch paper, which goes through quite a bit. With lots of scribbling and adjustments, many crumpled pieces of paper end up in the bin until the process meets my approval, and I move on to step 2.

The colored pencils transform my drawing table into a harmonious palette. With freehand precision, the colored lines are carefully placed side by side, ensuring each line has enough space to breathe.

In step 3, I determine the size of the passe-partout.
A collection of handmade frames, crafted specifically for my work, awaits to complete the picture.

The line is coming here from the other side, that is the joy of playing with paper.
